Philippine Visa Application Important Facts.
A Philippine visa is an official document/ or an endorsement stamped on the passport by the consular officer of the Philippine Embassy that grants the holder permission to enter, leave or stay in a country for a specified time period.
Types of Philippine Visa
The Philippine visa is grouped into two type of visa. First is the Section 9 Visa called the Non Immigrant Visa and the second is the Section 13 Visa called the Immigrant Visa.
1. Non-Immigrant Visas (Section 9 Visas) – for temporary visits such as those for tourism, business, transit, study or employment
- 9(a) Temporary Visitor’s Visa – For pleasure, business , health, training, attendance in conferences and seminars
- 9(b) Transient’s Visa – For transit visitor with a destination outside the Philippines
- 9(c) Seaman’s Visa – For a seaman serving on a vessel arriving/docking at a port in the Philippines seeking entry in the Philippines temporarily
- 9(d) Treaty Trader/Investor Visa – For a foreign businessman carrying trade or commerce between the Philippines and his country
- 9(e) Diplomatic Visa – For foreign officials recognized by the Philippine government, his family, attendants, servants, and employees
- 9(f) Student Visa – for visitors eighteen years old and above who intend to study bachelor’s degree or higher at a university, seminary, academy, college or school.
- 9(g) Pre-arranged Employment Visa – For foreign nationals who are proceeding to the Philippines to engage in any lawful occupation.
- 47(a)(2) Special Non-Immigrant Visa – for visitors proceeding to the Philippines under special laws
- PEZA Registered Enterprises
- Board of Investment Registered Enterprises
- Oil drilling companies
2. Immigrant Visas (Section 13 Visas) -for foreign nationals who wish to become permanent residents in the Philippines
- Quota Immigrant Visa –
- Non-Quota Immigrant Visas
- 13(a) Visa – for wife or husband or unmarried minor children of Philippine Citizen.
- 13(b) Visa – for child of foreign parents born during temporary visit abroad of permanent resident mother.
- 13(c) Visa – for child born subsequent to the issuance of immigrant visa to accompanying parent.
- 13(e) Visa – for returning permanent resident foreigners
- 13(g) Visa – for returning natural-born Filipinos who were naturalized as citizens of foreign countries.
Applying for Philippine visa require that the applicant’s passport should be valid for six (6) months beyond the applicant’s date of departure from the Philippines. The Philippine Embassies will only accept electronic passports and machine readable passports for visa applications. The Visa Officer has the right to ask for any additional documents that may be deemed necessary.
Requirements for Non-Immigrant Visa Application
Minimum Requirements:
- Passport/Travel Document Valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended period of stay in the Philippines;
- Duly Accomplished Visa application form;
- Duly Accomplished Visa application form;
Additional Requirements
- 9(a) Temporary Visitor’s Visa & 9(b) Transient’s Visa
- Proof of bona fide status as tourist or businessman;
- Confirmed tickets for return or onward journey to the next port of destination;
- 9(c) Seaman’s Visa
- Duly Accomplished Crew List Visa form;
- Letter from shipping company
- 9(d) Treaty Trader/Investor Visa
- Applicant must be a national of the country in which the Philippines has existing treaties of trade, commerce, and navigation;
- 9(e) Diplomatic Visa
- Note Verbale from their respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs
- 9(f) Student Visa
- Original copy of the school’s Notice of Acceptance (NOA)
- Original copy of the Certificate of Eligibility for Admission (CEA) issued by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED);
- Police Clearance;
- Medical Health Certificate including standard-sized chest X-Ray; and
- 9(g) Pre-arranged Employment Visa
- Police Clearance;
- Medical Health Certificate including standard-sized chest X-Ray
- Prior approval from DFA is required before the issuance of visa; and
- 47(a)(2) Special Non-Immigrant Visa
- Passport/Travel Document Valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended period of stay in the Philippines; and
- Duly Accomplished Visa application form;
Requirements for Non-Immigrant Visa Application
Minimum Requirements:
- Official birth certificate or baptismal certificate;
- Police Clearance;
- Medical examination report/chest X-Ray film;
- Evidence of financial support;
- Valid passport;
- Documentary proofs of his/her former Philippine citizenship and his present foreign citizenship (for 13(g) visa applicants only); and
- Such other secondary evidence of citizenship and admissibility into the Philippines as may be required.
