How to Apply Business Permit or Mayors’ Permit
Business Permit or Mayors’ Permit also known as the Local Government Unit (LGU) permit, is a kind of business license that ensures your company’s full compliance with city ordinances where your business is located.
Business permit is a prerequisite before starting a business.
A business permit is usually process at the City or Municipal Hall’s Business Permit and Licensing Office.
Local Government Units may have different processes and requirements when it comes to providing business permits.
Processing time usually takes 15 days. You will be issued a business permit , business plate and sticker which needs to be displayed in you company’s premises.
Business Permit is renewable every year. Deadlline of Renewing the Business Permit is every 20th day of January.
Business Permits Requirements in the Philippines
Secure first the initial requirements of the business permits such as:
1. Certificate of Registration. For sole proprietors, present your DTI Business Name Certificate, while a Certificate of SEC Registration, Articles of Incorporation & By Law for the Corporation, and Articles of Partnership for Partnership
2. Contract of Lease if you are renting your business’ area, however, if you own the place, a copy of the Transfer Certificate of Title (TCT) or Tax Declaration reflecting your name as the owner/owners
3. Barangay Clearance. You can get a Barangay Clearance from the local Barangay where your business is located. Submit a photocopy of your SEC/DTI/CDC Registration and a contract of lease or TCT and pay a minimal Barangay Clearance Fee
4. Locational/Zoning Clearance – This clearance can be secure in the Zoning Office of your city hall . Filled up the application form and submit together with the following a notarized Contract of Lease, (complete with the Building Name and Unit number ), Sketch or pictures of your business’ location, Building Permit, Authorization from the owner (if you are renting), Certification of No Renovation, and Declaration of Real Property Tax.
4. Certificate of Occupancy/ Building Permit. A sketch or pictures of your business’ location and Fire Inspection Certificate will be required to get a certificate of occupancy.
Once you have secured the initial requirement then you are now ready to applyf for the Business Permit
Here’s the usual procedure in obtaining a business permit
1. Submit the duly filled-out and notarized application form to the Bureau of Permits (BP)/Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) , along with other required permits and clearances.
- Certificate of Registration
- Contract of Lease
- Barangay Clearance.
- Locational/Zoning Clearance
- Certificate of Occupancy/ Building Permit
2. Bureau of Permits (BP)/Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) will assess your application, and if everything is found in order, will issue an Order of Payment detailing the total amount of fees you need to pay.
3. Pay the amount stated in the assessment and Procure a Community Tax Certificate/Cedula from the City Treasurer’s Office.
4. Once payment is done process the other permits such as
- Fire Safety Inspection Permit from Fire Department by presenting your paid application requirements.
- Sanitary Permit from the Health Department by presenting your paid application requirements.
5. Submit your Application to the BPLO together with the following:
- Official Receipt for the assessment
- Cedula
- Certificate of Registration
- Contract of Lease
- Barangay Clearance.
- Locational/Zoning Clearance
- Certificate of Occupancy/ Building Permit
- Fire Safety Inspection Permit
- Sanitary Permit
6. A claim stub will be given to you as a proof that your application of business permit is now on process.
After two weeks from submission of your application, present your claim stub to the BPLO to claim your permit, business plate and sticker.
Display your Business Permit , Business Plate and the Sticker your business premises.
